Characterization of Particle Number Setups for Measuring Brake Particle Emissions and Comparison with Exhaust Setups

چکیده

The stringency of vehicle exhaust emissions regulations resulted in a significant decrease particulate matter (PM) over the years. Non-exhaust particles (i.e., from brakes and tyres) account for almost half or more road transport-induced ambient PM. Even with internal combustion engine ban 2035, electrified vehicles will still emit PM brake tyre wear. Consequently, non-exhaust cannot significantly without any regulatory measures. Because independent research carried out under different methods is not readily comparable, Global Technical Regulation (GTR), which sets procedures boundaries testing wear particle emissions, currently development. This overview describes number (PN) measurement setup based on well-known PN methodology. We provide technical requirements expected maximum losses. In addition, we estimate effect losses differences between setups typical size distributions observed during testing. Finally, compare specifications to those PN.

Brake wear particle emissions: a review

Traffic-related sources have been recognized as a significant contributor of particulate matter particularly within major cities. Exhaust and non-exhaust traffic-related sources are estimated to contribute almost equally to traffic-related PM10 emissions. Non-exhaust particles can be generated either from non-exhaust sources such as brake, tyre, clutch and road surface wear or already exist in ...

Knapsack problems with setups

RÉSUMÉ : We consider two variants of knapsack problems with setups arising as subproblems in a DantzigWolfe decomposition approach to more complex combinatorial optimization problems. In the multiple-class binary knapsack problem with setups, items are partitioned into classes whose use implies a setup cost and associated capacity consumption. Item weights are assumed to be a multiple of their ...

Adversarial queuing theory with setups

We look at routing and scheduling problems on Kelly type networks where the injection process is under the control of an adversary. The novelty of the model we consider is that the adversary injects requests of distinct types. Resources are subject to switch-over delays or setups when they begin servicing a new request class. In this new setting, we study the behavior of sensible policies as in...

Stabilizing Queueing Networks with Setups

For multiclass queueing networks, dispatch policies govern the assignment of servers to the jobs they process. Production policies perform the analogous task for queueing networks whose servers are subject to switch-over delays or setups, a model we refer to as setup networks. It is well known that a poorly chosen dispatch policy may lead to instability of a multiclass queueing network, even wh...

Continental anthropogenic primary particle number emissions

Atmospheric aerosol particle number concentrations impact our climate and health in ways different from those of aerosol mass concentrations. However, the global, current and future anthropogenic particle number emissions and their size distributions are so far poorly known. In this article, we present the implementation of particle number emission factors and the related size distributions in ...
